On 24th October, at Maspalomas Aerodrome, we held the annual Emergency Response Plan Training Course for all our staff and the rest of the aerodrome operators.
This training is compulsory for all aerodrome operators and its aim is to guarantee compliance with our Action Plan in the event of an Accident/Incident.
The main points of the training are outlined below:
- CANAVIA must ensure, at all bases where it operates, that the aerodrome manager has a Local Emergency Plan with personnel trained to deal with any type of incident/accident.
- Both CANAVIA's own staff and those authorised representatives or handling agents must IMMEDIATELY INFORM the competent authorities in the event of an incident/accident.
- The authorised CANAVIA representative is responsible for maintaining an Action Plan in the event of incidents/accidents, in accordance with the Local Emergency Plan of the Aerodrome and the requirements detailed in the training.
Our Flight Safety Manager and guest nurse Israel Sánchez, 112 Room Coordinator, taught us how to act in the event of accidents/incidents at the aerodrome, as well as first aid for basic life support. To reinforce our knowledge, we carried out an interactive emergency drill.
