Flight Instructor Course - FI

Build experience while training other pilots

Becoming a flight instructor is a unique opportunity to accumulate flight hours and build experience, as well as to aspire to a permanent base of operations.

Training future pilots is another career opportunity for a commercial pilot.

 

Requirements

Students wishing to obtain certification as a flight instructor must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a Class 1 or Class 2 medical certificate
  • Hold a CPL or PPL with CPL theoretical knowledge and 200 flight hours in aeroplanes or TMGs
  • Have completed at least 5 hours in single-engine aeroplanes in the last 6 months
  • Have received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction in appropriate aircraft
  • Have completed 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight time in the appropriate aircraft class as PIC
  • Have completed a VFR cross-country flight as PIC, including a flight of at least 540 km (300 NM)

Theoretical training

The Flight Instructor course includes 25 hours of teaching and learning, 90 hours of instruction training and 10 hours of exam training, in which the following skills will be developed:

  • Preparing resources
  • Building an environment favourable for learning
  • Knowledge display
  • Incorporate Threat and Error Management (TEM) and Crew Resource Management (CRM)
  • Time management for achieving training objectives
  • Facilitate learning
  • Assessing student performance
  • Monitoring and reviewing progress
  • Assessing training sessions
  • Reporting results

Once the theoretical training has been completed, students must pass the school’s internal exams.

Our main objective is that all our students achieve a safe and successful training.

Flight training

The practical training consists of a total of 30 flight hours, both in single-engine aircraft and in FNPT-II simulator

FI Flight Instructor Course

€8,750

Includes 1 flight hour as an entry test (to be taken before the start of the course) and 1 flight exam hour.

Exam fees not included.

IRI Instrument Rating Instructor Course

The objective of this course is to train holders of an aeroplane licence to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of an IRI(A) rating.

Theoretical training

Composed of 25 hours of teaching and learning, and 10 hours of instruction training.

Pilots who hold one of the ratings listed below will not be required to receive teaching and learning training:

FI (A) CRI (A) TRI (A) SFI (A) STI (A) MCC (A) FI (H) TRI (H) SFI (H)

Pilots holding an IRI (H) do not have to take the course, except for the briefing and air exercise 2 and the flight skill test.

Flight training

10 flight hours, or 5 hours if the candidate is in possesion of FI (A) rating
Pass a skill test (1:00)

Previous requirements

800 IFR flight hours
200 IFR flight hours for FI (A) candidates

IRI Instrument Rating Instructor Course

Pilots with FI certificate require 25 hours less of theoretical instruction, deducting €1,165

CRI-ME Multi-Engine Flight Instructor Rating Course 

The objective of this course is to train airplane license holders with at least 500 hours of flight time as an airplane pilot to the level of proficiency required for the issuance of a CRI(A) rating for single-pilot multi-engine airplanes.

The course shall be constructed so that the applicant receives the appropriate training in the field of theoretical knowledge instruction, single-pilot instruction or type rating for which the applicant is qualified.

Theoretical training

Composed of 25 hours of teaching and learning, and 10 hours of instruction training.

Pilots who hold one of the ratings listed below will not be required to receive teaching and learning training:

Pass a skill test (1:00 hours)

CRI-SE Single-Engine Flight Instructor Rating Course
